The Boston Bruins defended home ice once again Thursday night, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 in Game 6 to force a deciding Game 7 in their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series.

Late Thursday night, the Bruins announced that Saturday's Game 7 in Carolina will start at 4:30 p.m. ET, with Game 7 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning following at 7 p.m. ET.

The home team has won every game in this Bruins-Canes series, but Carolina has been more dominant in its own building, outscoring Boston 15-4 over the three games at PNC Arena. The B's lost by at least three goals in all three of those contests, so they'll need to play their best game of the series if they want to avoid their first first-round playoff exit since 2017.

Home teams have dominated this series with each team winning all three of their games on home ice and doing it in blowout fashion. The bottom line is that this is a series of matchups and the home team gets to decide the matchups. As long as Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour can control the matchups and get the lines he wants to nullify Bruins forward Brad Marchand, the Hurricanes will win.

Three Game 7s in one day? What a treat for hockey fans. The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has been full of tight series and Saturday’s trio of Game 7s is the best example.

This is the first time in eight years there have been three Game 7s on the same day. On top of that the matchups are interesting for a number of reasons as well. The marquee matchup is probably Tampa Bay at Toronto. Toronto hasn’t won a playoff series since 2004 and Tampa Bay is the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion.
