Caldwell Senior Center Hiring Executive Director

The Caldwell Senior Center is currently seeking energetic, self-motivated, and visionary candidates for the position of Executive Director. The Caldwell Senior Center provides a focal point for aging resources, as well as opportunities designed to extend independent living and enrich the quality of life for older adults in Caldwell County. The Executive Director serves as the chief administrator of the agency, being responsible for the overall management of the senior center’s operation, budget and programs. This professional level, full-time position is responsible for the planning, organization and administration of the center in accordance with the policies and procedures adopted by the governing Board of Directors.


The Executive Director will plan, coordinate, and schedule programs, services and activities to meet older adults’ needs and interests. The Director will supervise staff, including instructors and volunteers. The successful candidate must be well organized, excellent in building and maintaining relationships and an advocate for aging issues. Candidates should have knowledge and experience with management and budgeting, older adult programs and services, administering grants, fundraising, preparing written statistical and budgetary reports and maintaining accurate records, developing a calendar and newsletter, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Computer technology skills would be a plus. The position will be required to complete the NC Division of Aging Ann Johnson Institute of Senior Center Management certification program and training for Senior Health Insurance Information Medicare programs.


The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter, who seeks to continually improve and expand services. The position requires independent, initiative, creative leadership and dedication to the principle of improving the lives of older adults. Excellent people and troubleshooting skills are necessary.


Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation with a bachelor’s degree in human services, gerontology, social work, public administration or a related field with 2 to 3 years’ experience within the field preferred.


The starting salary is $35,000 to $47,000 dependent on qualifications and benefits.
