All community members are invited to learn about STEM programs across western NC at an Expo in the morning and then will become thought partners in the afternoon to devise three areas of focus and expansion for the coming year. We need your voice to advance STEM Education in western NC.

Over 20 STEM Programs will be showcased

Each of STEM West's seven public school partners will be showcasing at least three of their STEM programs or activities.

Sponsoring partners: Friday Institute and STEM West

Funding will allow scaling of a four-year program called Filling the Gap (FTG). STEM West and The Science House of NCSU has consistently partnered on this program. Funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission and Duke Energy Foundation, over 40 teachers have been trained in project based learning (PBL). These teachers have partnered with local STEM businesses to create real-world PBL units related to business. These units make learning relevant and engaging.
