AAA - Teaching Aging Sensitivity to Area Youth

On April 17, 2018 the Western Piedmont Area Agency on Aging partnered with the Catawba Council on Aging to visit with Mrs. Whitener’s 3rd grade class at Banoak Elementary School in Catawba County to teach the class about “Aging Sensitivity”. The students were able to have a hands on approach to aging, learning that as you age your eyesight, hearing and fine motor skills can sometimes change. While many of the activities could have given aging a negative association, the students learned that aging can be fun and you can always wear a smile and be happy.
