Now Hiring - Town of Sawmills, Town Manager

The Town of Sawmills (population 5,240) is currently seeking energetic, results-oriented, forward-thinking candidates for the position of Town Manager. Sawmills is a Town dedicated to small town values and a great quality of life. The beautiful foothills and view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, several beautiful lakes along the Catawba River, and ample opportunities for recreation, shopping and dining in the town and region make Sawmills an ideal place to work and call home. The current Town Manager is taking another opportunity after 4 years of service with the Town and is leaving on very good terms with the Town.


The Town Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Town with 12 full-time employees covering Public Works, Community Planning, Parks & Recreation (88-acre lake-front park), Finance, and Water & Wastewater Utilities. The FY19 General Fund budget is $2 million and the Utility Fund is $1 million with 2,150 customers.


The Town Manager must be actively engaged with the community and its businesses. Candidates must have the ability to relate well to the community and have the ability to partner with an engaged council to carry out the strategic priorities of the community. The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation with a Bachelor’s degree or Masters’ degree (preferred) in public administration or a related field and some town management experience preferred. The Town Council has initiated the process to adopt the Council-Manager form of government.


The hiring range is $55,000 - $80,000, with a full benefits package.
