Training Workshop for Non-law Enforcement Personnel - Active Shooter Training

In partnership with the N.C. League of Municipalities, Western Piedmont Council of Governments would like to invite member governments to join us for an Active Shooter Workshop on Wednesday, February 21 from 1 - 2:30 pm at the office of WPCOG. This training is geared toward non-law enforcement personnel. Instructing the Active Shooter Workshop will be NCLM Public Safety Manager, Tom Anderson. Tom is a veteran law enforcement office with over 25 years of experience.



Tom Anderson Bio


Tom Anderson started his law enforcement career as a Patrol Officer with the Statesville Police Department in 1992. During Tom’s career, he was promoted through all levels of supervision and management and promoted to police chief in December of 2008. Throughout his career, Tom has served in several assignments and positions to include patrol, criminal investigations, special operations, and community services, in addition to serving on the SWAT team for over 12 years. In July of 2015, Tom left the Statesville Police Department for a newly created position with the N.C. League of Municipalities. Tom is currently serving as the NCLM’s Public Safety Risk Manager working with the cities and towns throughout North Carolina. Tom is still a part-time sworn officer with the Statesville and Troutman Police Departments assisting with training and departmental needs. Tom has a Bachelor and Master’s degree in criminal Justice and serves as an Adjunct Professor for Gardner-Webb and Kaplan Universities, teaching criminal justice and government classes. Tom was a long-time board member and past president for the North Carolina Police Executives Association and served as the Law Enforcement Training Coordinator for the association for many years.
