Extended Deadline - WPCOG Request for Qualifications Engineering Services for Water Interconnect Preliminary Engineering

Project Name: Hickory, Lenoir and Granite Falls Regional Water Interconnect System Preliminary Engineering Report

Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) Scope: Public drinking water is vital for a productive and healthy way of life. As a result of the nationally declared disaster Hurricane Helene (DR-4827-NC), potential issues facing water utility providers were noted. Regional water providers, City of Hickory, City of Lenoir along with the Town of Granite Falls provide water to over 175,000 persons. A regional interconnect could provide resiliency and water resources in case of future emergencies. The Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG) is seeking a qualified engineering firm to complete a Preliminary Engineering Report to evaluate an interconnection of the water systems of Hickory, Lenoir and Granite Falls as part of an Economic Development Administration (EDA) application being developed by the WPCOG.

The qualifications statement shall be submitted no later than 2:00 p.m. January 30, 2026. No submittals will be accepted after the deadline. Once the submittals have been reviewed, WPCOG reserves the right to shortlist Firm(s) and request that the Firm(s) conduct a presentation and be interviewed by the selection committee.
