Now Hiring - GIS Specialist

The GIS Specialist performs technical and analytical geographic information systems work for WPCOG and on a contracted basis for member governments. Work includes the collection of data and data analysis both within member organization’s local jurisdictions and on a regional level while collecting GIS data and developing GIS applications. Performs analytical work on a variety of geographic data including (but not limited to) zoning and land use planning, transportation, various local government infrastructures such as water, sewer, electric systems and others within the context of contracted work for an individual WPCOG member, a grant-funded project, or the WPCOG region; provides direct GIS technical assistance to the local government staff as required. Employee may serve in a support role in contract work or in special WPCOG projects. Work requires knowledge of modern GIS information systems and skill in manipulation of GIS data including the production of maps and GIS applications (ex. ESRI Experience Builder). Work is performed in both an indoor environment and in field environments. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through observation, reports, progress on projects assigned, participation in conferences, and feedback from clients.
